- Never litter... Litter usually finds its way into sewers, rivers, and streams.
- Try to use very minimal amounts of fertilizers and pesticides, especially where run-off can occur
- Conserve as much water as you can. Too much water in a sewage system can lead to overflows into our waterways.
- Pick up pet waste... especially along river banks. Pet waste contains damaging bacteria that contaminates the rivers.
- Use rain barrels to collect rainfall to use on your lawn or garden.
- Don't dump anything into storm drains, because it drains directly to local waterways.
- Use non-toxic products. Carefully dispose of toxic household cleaners, chemicals, and oils.
- Take your car to the car wash, instead of washing it in the driveway... The suds will drain into a storm drain if you do.
- Maintain clean driveways, side walks, and roads so debris doesn't enter storm drains.
- Share these facts with others in your community, so everyone starts helping to keep watersheds clean!
